Hifi is a decentralized finance protocol that allows people to lend and borrow crypto at a fixed interest rate.

Hifi is made up of decentralized interest rate markets that mature on specific dates. Hifi markets use an Automated Market Maker model, in which users supply tokens to “liquidity pools” and an algorithm sets the interest rate based on supply and demand.

Users supply liquidity, borrow, or lend into any of the active markets. Borrower’s pay a fixed interest rate to lenders without needing to negotiate terms like maturity, interest rate, or collateral. By supplying tokens to liquidity pools users can earn rewards while enabling peer-to-peer lending and borrowing.

Hifi Governance is the community organized process for managing the Lending Protocol. HIFI is an ERC-20 token that gives its owner the ability to delegate voting rights to any address, including their own. The delegate's voting rights are automatically adjusted when the owner's token balance changes. Hifi Governance enables the community to propose, vote on, and implement changes via the administrative functions of the Hifi Protocol. Proposals can change system parameters, support new markets, add entirely new collateral types, or deploy resources towards specific causes.

Hifi was originally known as Mainframe when it launched in Nov. 2017. Mainframe began as a decentralized communications layer for Web3 but pivoted to Decentralized Finance and rebranded to Hifi in early 2020.

Stargate Finance (STG) is an omnichain-native asset bridge designed to solve the blockchain trilemma, which says that no blockchain can be decentralized, secure, and fast simultaneously. It does this by simplifying cross-chain DeFi transactions, which lets users transfer and swap their assets between different blockchains, layer-2 networks, and decentralized applications (dApps) almost instantly.

Stargate users can also move their assets between different liquidity pools on various decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and dApps. The protocol supports transfers between eight chains: Ethereum, Avalanche, Polygon, Metis, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism and Fantom.

Rocket Pool is a decentralized Ethereum staking pool offering up to 4.33% APR for ETH2 staking. Users can join the Rocket Pool with its decentralized node operator network or run their own nodes with only 16 ETH. In the latter case, they can earn a commission from staking ETH and earn additional RPL rewards from providing RPL collateral, amounting to up to 6.36% APR for ETH and the additional RPL rewards.

Rocket Pool provides liquid staking, meaning users benefit from an increasing exchange rate instead of adding on to their initial staked collateral, which would be a taxable event. NEM is a blockchain platform that was launched in March of 2015. It was one of the pioneers of the cryptocurrency industry, and sought to improve on the imperfections found on other chains at the time. It was one of the first non-turing complete chains to feature user-defined tokens (called mosaics), namespaces, multisignature accounts, and a P2P reputation system based on EigenTrust++. Its most notable contribution to the space is the proof-of-importance consensus mechanism, which sought to reward on-chain activity and deter the concentration of wealth commonly associated with proof-of-stake. NEM has a global community. It sees the most utility as an alternative form of payment for businesses and vendors, and has a variety of social media apps built on top of it in Japan, such as nemgraph, a community-driven owned and operated alternative to Instagram.

In December 2021, NEM was hard forked by a pseudonymous team of cryptocurrency experts and enthusiasts alike. Titled Harlock, this hard fork signaled the community’s intent to take NEM from a shadow of its former self into the world’s leading payments platform for on-chain and off-chain media content.
