The popular Telegram-based tap-to-earn game Captain Tsubasa: Rivals has generated significant player interest following the announcement of its upcoming crypto token, JOHN.

The game, inspired by the long-running Japanese anime and manga series centered around soccer, has attracted millions of players who engage in tapping to earn digital soccer balls.

The announcement explained that JOHN was inspired by legendary goalkeeper Wakabayashi’s dog, and features a playful character design to enhance the gaming experience.

While no specific launch date for the token has been provided, players can prepare for its arrival by connecting a wallet on The Open Network (TON), commonly used for Telegram games.

The distribution of JOHN tokens will be influenced by several factors, including the total number of soccer balls accumulated by players, the levels of unlocked characters, and the completion of in-game tasks. Players who have invited friends and subscribed to the game’s official Telegram channel will also influence their token allotments during the anticipated airdrop.

In addition to announcing the JOHN token, Captain Tsubasa: Rivals has introduced an in-game currency known as Rivals Coins.

Players can earn these coins during a limited-time event that concludes on Dec. 4, which may also factor into the upcoming token distribution.

Since the token announcement, the game has experienced a surge in popularity, with the number of subscribers to its Telegram channel more than doubling in just two days. Current estimates suggest that monthly active players have reached approximately 4.5 million.
