Google Cloud is now operating a validator on the Celo Network, a layer-1 blockchain which aims to bring a mobile-first experience to Web3 users.
Validators are in charge of maintaining the blockchain's security by verifying transactions.
Following the establishment of a digital assets team in January 2022 and the introduction of the Blockchain Node Engine meant to host nodes in October of that same year, this step represents Google Cloud's next significant foray into blockchain and Web3 technologies.
Recently, Google Cloud also stated that it would support the Founders in Residence programme of the Celo Foundation.
By relaying secure and trustworthy transactions on-chain, the Google Cloud Blockchain Node Engine will help Celo with the switch to an Ethereum layer-2, enabling more rapid node operations for Celo network users.
The partnership aims to empower Celo network users, scaling blockchain technology for genuine, widespread global adoption.
