Although it's a life-changing sum of money, Charlie Bit Me and Disaster Girl commanded much higher prices.
The trend of legendary internet memes being transformed into one-of-a-kind NFTs is showing no sign of slowing down.
And now, another iconic video has been given the tokenized treatment: Side Eyeing Chloe.
The video features two little girls, Lily and Chloe, sat in the back of the car who suddenly realize they’re going to Disneyland.
While Lily bursts into tears of joy, Chloe had quite a different reaction… looking rather nervously at the camera. Her iconic facial expression has been a mainstay on social media ever since.
A Life-Changing Sum of Money
One thing that unites all of these NFTs lies in how they’ve made enough money to put all of these children through college… with change to spare.
Side Eyeing Chloe ended up selling for 25 ETH — that’s worth about $78,300 at the time of writing.
Her mother Katie told the BBC that the family plan to hold on to the Ether… but may use part of the proceeds to go to Disneyland. Now 10 years old, Chloe may be more impressed. Katie added:
“In an ever-changing world, it may be worth more next week.”
Side Eyeing Chloe did attract a far less generous price tag than the memes that came before it. Another example is Overly Attached Girlfriend, which fetched a cool $400,000 earlier this year.
This may be linked to the fact that NFT sales have begun to cool slightly after hitting a dizzying peak.
Curiously, the NFTs of Charlie Bit Me, Disaster Girl and Side Eyeing Chloe are all owned by the same collector — 3F Music — a music producer who’s based in Dubai.
