Optimism Transactions Surpassed Results of Arbitrum After the Launch of Worldcoin
For the first time in six months, Layer-2 blockchain Optimism outperformed competitor Arbitrum in terms of daily transactions, with 844,290 compared to Arbitrum's 630,534 on July 25. Optimism also surpassed Arbitrum on July 26, with 808,942 transactions compared to 664,821 on Arbitrum.
The launch of Worldcoin (WLD), a cryptocurrency AI startup established by Sam Altman of OpenAI, which is based on the Optimism blockchain and has over 250,000 holders as a result of an airdrop, can be largely credited for the increase.
Optimism (OP) has increased by 4.5% over the previous day despite Sunday's token unlock sale pressure.
However, Arbitrum’s daily active addresses exceed that of Optimism’s, with 145,773 compared to 102,542 for Optimism, showing that there are more active users on Arbitrum.
Velodrome's activity on Optimism, a decentralized exchange (DEX) that launched its second version on June 23, can also be credited for the activity on Optimism. Total Value Locked (TVL) on Velodrome has increased 39% in the last month to $258 million, according to DefiLlama.
