A new
report from blockchain investment firm Pantera Capital examines salary and employment trends among over 1,600 Web3 professionals globally. The research finds the median pay for a Web3 engineer in 2023 is $128,000.
North American developers earn the most at $166,610 on average, while those in Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions earn salaries of around $90,000-$75,000 respectively.
Most respondents worked in decentralized finance (DeFi) or as contractors building blockchain infrastructure, with nearly 90% holding fully remote positions. Junior and mid-level engineers saw a decrease of 8% and 4% respectively, while senior positions saw 1.5% growth to $192,585.
97% of the respondents are paid their base salary in fiat, while the 3% of people paid in crypto mainly choose USDC as their payment of choice.
