Holders of the dog-themed Solana memecoin dogwifhat (WIF) are on a mission to put their beloved Shiba Inu mascot on the Las Vegas Strip. A community-driven initiative called "sphere wif hat" aims to raise a whopping $650,000 to secure a week-long advertising spot on the newly-launched Sphere entertainment venue.
Fueled by the memecoin's recent surge, the campaign has already garnered over $259,000 in donations, about 40% of the target. While the majority of contributions fall within the $1-$100 range, a strong showing of community enthusiasm is evident. Notably, two particularly dedicated "whales" have pledged over $9,999 each, marking the largest individual donations so far.
This push for Las Vegas glory comes on the heels of dogwifhat's impressive market performance. The memecoin recently hit an all-time high of $2.48 following its listing on the prominent crypto exchange Binance. However, WIF is currently trading at $2.05, down 5.9% in the past 24 hours.
The "sphere wif hat" campaign highlights the growing influence of memecoin communities, as the recent surge in memecoins like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, Pepe, Bonk and more have attracted tons of retail interest in these highly volatile cryptocurrencies.
