Wallet in Telegram To Add 50 Tokens and Launch Yield Program in New Update

Wallet in Telegram, a third-party cryptocurrency wallet within Telegram, is set to roll out a new version of its wallet, adding 50 new tokens and introducing an "Earn" feature for users. The Open Platform (TOP), which manages the wallet, announced these changes on March 13, with a launch planned within the next two months.

The update will bring a variety of new tokens, including major cryptocurrencies like Ether (ETH), XRP, and meme coins such as Dogecoin (DOGE) and Pepe (PEPE). The full list of tokens will be finalized gradually, with the first release featuring 50 assets. The new tokens will be available for trading within the wallet, but users will initially only be able to buy, sell, and hold the assets in the app without transferring them to external wallets or exchanges. This means that, for now, altcoin transactions are limited to in-app operations, with no on-chain deposits or withdrawals allowed.

Along with the token expansion, Wallet in Telegram is launching a new "Earn" feature. This feature will allow users to earn yields on assets like Toncoin (TON) and Tether’s USDt. The first campaign for the Earn feature will focus on TON, offering flexible yield rates for TON deposits. Users will need to deposit at least 0.1 TON to participate in the yield program, and the yields will be generated from TON staking. While the first rollout is limited to TON, the plan is to expand the Earn feature to include other cryptocurrencies and stablecoins in the future.

The primary focus of Wallet in Telegram remains on the TON ecosystem, and the platform will continue to maintain full operations for TON-native tokens within its custodial wallet. However, based on increasing consumer interest in other cryptocurrencies, Wallet in Telegram aims to expand its portfolio with a wide range of additional assets. While the addition of 50 new tokens will be the first phase of this rollout, more assets will be added gradually over time.

The wallet's spokesperson confirmed that the new features aim to meet users’ growing demand for a wider selection of tokens and yield-generating opportunities. The update will offer users more options within Telegram’s integrated platform, making it easier for people to engage in cryptocurrency transactions and earn from their holdings.

As this new generation of Wallet in Telegram rolls out, it will be interesting to see how these changes influence the platform’s adoption and how users respond to the addition of new tokens and yield opportunities.
