Introduction
Bitcoin is struggling to regain strength and has been unable to reclaim $100,000 for almost two weeks. Crypto Twitter (CT) bears are calling for $70,000 to $80,000, which is not helping.
It reminds me of the previous bull run when everyone, including PlanB, was calling for BTC to reach $100,000, which never happened—well, until this year.
A shared GameFi New Year’s wish is that Off the Grid actually launches and that GameFi finally gets bragging rights with their first AAA game.
Market Overview
The GameFi market cap saw a slight drop from $25.36 billion to $24.95 billion over the last seven days.
We closed the year around 25% up from the start of 2024.
GameFi tokens started to show strength towards the end of the week.

Exciting news from Pudgy Penguins, though not everyone is sold on the idea.
Yat Siu’s X account was hacked and the scammer promoted a fake MOCA token.
GameFi user activity is showing strength as the whole market corrects. This is never a bad thing. OasChoice has had a crazy 20,000% jump in UAW, according to DappRadar.
- OasChoice’s UAW soars with its quiz game for predicting the price of OAS.
- Alliance Games surges as they highlight the launch of the Worker Network.

Latest Blockchain Gaming News
Solana Games To Watch in 2025
Interest in blockchain gaming skyrocketed during the play-to-earn mania of the last cycle. But the games had unsustainable tokenomics like Axie Infinity and scams that gave the industry a bad name.
Developers have been working on creating better games, many of which are set to launch in 2025. Three games developed on Solana (SOL) show the progress that has been made:
- Nyan Heroes: A third-person team-based shooter featuring Nyan Cats piloting mechs, currently in early access on the Epic Games Store. Players can join alpha playtests in 2025.
- Photo Finish™: The first real-money horse racing game on the App Store. It allows players to collect, breed, and trade NFT horses, as well as bet on virtual races.
- BR Infinite: A “Real Money Shooter” where players deposit funds to compete, earning money for each in-game kill.
P2E Games Go Mainstream
The latest report from the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) shows that play-to-earn (P2E) games are getting closer to mainstream adoption. The findings show the industry is at an all-time high in terms of active users.
There is also increasing involvement from major traditional game publishers like Sony and Square Enix. In Japan, gaming giants Sega, Square Enix, and Konami have joined forces under the Japan Cryptocurrency Business Association (JCBA)

Shiba Inu Hints at New Game
Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, is hyped about the upcoming release of Lap Dogs, the latest racing game from the Shiba Inu team.
It will become the fourth game in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, joining Shiba Eternity, Agent Shiboshi, and Shiboshi Rush. The game is expected to launch first on mobile before transitioning to Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s layer-2 blockchain. There is no official release date yet.
What You Can Do Now
- Focus on quality over hype: look out for games that people play for fun rather than just for earning.
- Check for real utility and in-game integration: projects where tokens and NFTs have multiple use cases within the game such as staking, upgrades, and crafting, tend to be more sustainable.
- Evaluate team experience and transparency: teams with a proven track record in gaming or blockchain are more likely to deliver.
- Assess community activity and growth: high player retention and active communities (Discord, Twitter, Reddit) show that a game can attract and keep players.
- Check out all the latest developments on the RON chain.
