Meme Coin Snaps

The crypto bull run train has had to deal with some brutal macroeconomic emergency stops and delays, but there’s finally good news from Ser JPow.

This week, the meme coin sector and the overall crypto market seem to be back on track with some positive news as Fed Chair Jerome Powell said that he thinks there will be a loosening of bank rules on crypto. We still have a long way to go, but together with Trump’s de-escalation of his trade wars, things are looking up.

The meme coins’ top gainers started a correlated uptrend, and MANEKI rose from the dead with a near 300% pump.
Take a guess which one of the crypto majors, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP or BNB, did not show gains over the last week? Yes, of course you guessed right: ETH. The biggest drama on the markets was MANTRA wiping $5.5 billion off its market cap, not a good look for crypto but the CEO, John Mullin, denies insider trading. Say what?

Meme of the Week: Fartcoin

$FARTCOIN is a playful cryptocurrency and social experiment launched on Solana in October 2024. Dreamed up anonymously by Truth Terminal AI, it pokes fun at the overly speculative nature of crypto projects through fart-themed mini-games and transactions humorously dubbed "gas emissions."
Despite minimal real-world utility, Fartcoin quickly captured attention, attracting over 47,000 holders and reaching a $1 billion market cap within months. It’s fueled by viral humor and an enthusiastic online community on the pillars of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity, proving how even the silliest crypto ideas (like Dogecoin!) can resonate during highly speculative and optimistic market phases.
(Also the crypto market is 80% dudes according to this survey and let’s face it, we all love fart jokes. Pull my finger!)

PumpSwap Is Cooking

PumpSwap, the decentralized exchange (DEX) from meme coin launchpad Pump.Fun, saw a massive surge in activity last week, processing $2.5 billion in trades, a 40% increase from the previous week, Cointelegraph reported.

Since its launch on March 19, PumpSwap has quickly gained traction, hitting record highs in daily trading volume, fees, and active wallets. On April 14, the platform generated over $1.05 million in daily fees, and by April 15, it hit a new daily trading volume record of $417.8 million.

The DEX has also become a lucrative hub for meme coin traders, with over 500 wallets earning more than $1 million each and the top wallet raking in nearly $40.6 million in the past 30 days.

Trump Devs Remove Liquidity

Developers behind the official TRUMP meme coin have caused concern after removing $4.6 million in USDC from the token’s liquidity pool just one day before a major token unlock. The funds were bridged to Ethereum and deposited into America’s No. 1 exchange, prompting fears of a potential rug pull.
View post on Twitter
Although not a confirmed exit, the move sparked speculation among traders about a possible sell-off or internal repositioning. The timing is particularly concerning as 40 million TRUMP tokens, worth around $320 million and tied to the Trump Organization, will begin unlocking on April 17.

PAWS Airdrop Controversy

The PAWS token airdrop turned chaotic after a flawed distribution on April 15, 2025. Some users received extra tokens, while others got none, sparking frustration and backlash across social media.

In response, the exchange announced it will reverse and reissue all PAWS tokens based on a revised eligibility list provided by the project team, which includes previously excluded participants. Users in the European Economic Area remain ineligible due to MiCA regulations.

What Can You Do Next?

  • DYOR before aping any celebrity tokens, so far they have all pumped and dumped.
  • Keep an eye on PumpSwap, as they are gaining serious traction.
  • Meme coins are extremely volatile. Make sure to have a diversified portfolio.
  • Consider reinvesting some profits into safer crypto tokens or stables.
