Binance Charity leads the crypto relief effort after the Morocco earthquake.
In response to the devastating earthquake that recently struck Morocco, Binance has announced to provide relief to those impacted. Through its philanthropic wing, Binance Charity, the exchange will airdrop up to $3 million in BNB to approximately 70,000 users in the affected regions.
Recognizing many victims may not have completed the verification process yet, Binance will donate $25 in BNB to any existing users in the province who complete POA verification between September 9 and 30.
Additionally, active Binance users across other unaffected regions of Morocco will receive a $10 BNB airdrop each.
Binance Charity has previously provided aid after earthquakes, floods and other catastrophes in countries like India, Lebanon and Turkey. It also donated extensively during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Morocco airdrop highlights the growing use case of crypto in philanthropy and social impact. The transparency of distributions on the blockchain combined with the speed and global reach of crypto transfers enables direct, efficient delivery of help to those in need.
“The impact of the earthquake on the Moroccan people is devastating. We hope we can bring some support to those affected. For Moroccan users who receive these donations but are unimpacted by the earthquake, we ask them to pass the funds on to those most in need,” said CZ.
While rescue operations continue, the airdrop provides a rapid influx of funds that can be used for essential supplies. Binance Charity says it will continue monitoring the situation on the ground in Morocco and take further action as required.
