OpenSea Informs API Users Of A Security Hack
The prominent NFT marketplace OpenSea has issued a warning to some customers about a recent security compromise that may have exposed their API keys. The company informed affected clients via email that one of their vendors had a security incident that may have compromised information connected to their OpenSea API keys.
While the breach is not expected to immediately affect user integration with the platform, unauthorized access by third parties could impact usage limits.
As a precaution, OpenSea encouraged users to stop using their current API keys immediately and generate new ones. Users were notified that their current keys would expire on Monday, October 2.
OpenSea did not say how many people were affected or whether any other data besides API keys was compromised during the security attack. This incident follows a similar breach at Nansen, where some users' blockchain addresses, password hashes, and email addresses were disclosed.
