Bitcoin (BTC) closed the week 0.95% down, while Ethereum (ETH) fared slightly better, closing the week up 2.3%. Interestingly, total crypto market cap rose 4.7% from $3.286T to close the week at $3.442T.
This week’s liquidations took out positions both ways, with $365M in shorts liquidated on Monday while longs took the hit later in the week, with a combined $1B in longs liquidated on Thursday and Friday. Funding rates in general continue to show weakness, with the continued downtrend, indicating a risk off approach going into the end of the week.

Why does it matter?

While the week started off strong, the tide quickly turned on fears of geopolitical conflict in the Middle East. With attacks confirmed at the end of the week, both traditional and crypto markets fell hard on the news. Nevertheless, the S&P 500 has closed the week up 0.69% while the Nasdaq closed the week up 0.69%
