Farm Frens has announced its intention to migrate to the Line messaging app following complications during the launch of its FREN token on the Ethereum layer-2 network Base. The developers acknowledged several technical errors that marred the token generation event (TGE), initially set for Jan. 20.
The project's founder, known as Kaizen, detailed the various issues that users faced, particularly with token claims. Users encountered errors that prevented them from receiving their allocations, prompting frustration within the community.
Kaizen explained that the team had attempted to subsidize gas fees for airdrop claims, but underestimated the mainnet’s performance compared to their local tests, leading to throttling of claims and inconsistencies in token balances.
In a public statement, the developers apologized for the difficulties encountered and clarified that the issues were not intentional. They have since addressed some of the problems and provided a contact form for users still experiencing difficulties.
The airdrop challenges coincided with Telegram's recent exclusivity agreement with The Open Network (TON), which requires blockchain projects on the platform to transition to TON or eliminate their blockchain features.
This situation prompted Farm Frens to revise its roadmap, which now includes plans for a standalone wallet and a new season of in-game content set to launch on Line in the second quarter of 2025.
