Reddit has launched its Gen 4 Collectible Avatar series, the biggest addition to date of its limited-edition non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The new "Retro Reimagined" drop, which includes designs from both fresh and seasoned creators like Micah Johnson and Cool Cats NFT, will be distributed on the Polygon network.
Priced from $2.49 to $199.99, the collection includes designs created by 100 independent creators.
A number of artists, including Ali Sabet, rojom, gasolyn, StutterVoid, Conall-in-Space, kristyglas, and dashikka, appeared on the Gen 3 series, which was released in April 2023.
In order to ensure a smooth rollout, Reddit adopted anti-bot measures including CAPTCHA. In addition, it is releasing "initial access" on the first day of the release, which limits the number of collectibles that can be bought in a single transaction and takes account age and "other metrics" into account.
A $3,000 daily purchase cap will be in place following the first day of initial access. Over 14.2 million unique holders, over 18 million collectible avatars are currently in use, and the Reddit Avatars collection has a market cap of $57 million.
