Popular Telegram game Zoo has initiated its airdrop claim period for the upcoming ZOO token, which will be launched on The Open Network (TON). Following the conclusion of its mining phase last month, players can now claim their earned tokens through the Telegram mini app.
As of Tuesday, users are able to make off-chain claims without incurring any fees. This airdrop claim period will remain open until Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. UTC. After this date, players will need to claim their tokens on-chain, which will involve a fee of 0.1 TON, approximately $0.35.
The game, which experienced significant engagement since its launch in December 2024, allows players to construct digital zoos, drawing from concepts seen in games like Farmville and Zoo Tycoon. Players earn Zoo tokens by creating enclosures that attract visitors.
The developers clarified that the distribution of ZOO tokens will be simplified; the final token amount will have the last three digits removed. For instance, 1,000,000,000 in-game tokens will convert to 1,000,000 ZOO tokens.
The total supply of ZOO tokens is set at 264,084,737,391. While the developers have disclosed the tokenomics, indicating that 66% of the supply will be allocated to players from the mining phase, the market value of the token remains undisclosed, and there is currently no pre-market trading available.
ZOO tokens are scheduled for listing on various exchanges, including KuCoin and Bitget, on Feb. 25 at noon UTC, coinciding with the opening of on-chain claims.
Previous Telegram games have utilized similar strategies to maintain user engagement post-airdrop, such as Hamster Kombat, which recently launched its second season following its own airdrop.
