Unichain To Debut Public Mainnet in Early 2025, Uniswap Confirms
Uniswap has announced that its DeFi-focused layer-2 solution, Unichain, is expected to launch its public mainnet in early 2025.

The project is built on the OP Stack and operates on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet, which has processed over 50 million transactions and deployed more than 4 million test contracts since its inception in October.

To enhance security, Unichain will integrate permissionless fault proofs from the outset of its mainnet launch. This feature allows participants to verify the blockchain’s state and challenge invalid withdrawals, increasing overall network security.

The developers have scheduled planned maintenance on Jan. 6, 2025, to activate these fault proofs on the Sepolia testnet.

Following this maintenance, the mainnet will be opened to the public, giving users the ability to bridge funds and utilize various applications on the Unichain platform. The introduction of Flashblocks is also on the agenda, which aims to reduce block times to 250 milliseconds, facilitating near-instantaneous transactions.

To mitigate risks associated with single-sequencer architectures, Unichain will establish the Unichain Validation Network, a decentralized group of node operators that will independently validate the latest blockchain state.

Additionally, the network will incorporate Rollup-Boost, a block-building platform for rollups developed by Flashbots.

As Unichain launches, it will join Optimism’s Superchain ecosystem, with Uniswap Labs serving as a core contributor to the OP Stack.

In related news, Uniswap, recognized as Ethereum’s leading decentralized exchange by volume, reported over $1 billion in transactions within the last 24 hours.
