Mục lục

Klaytn is a public blockchain that was created to focus on the metaverse, GameFi and creator economy. It launched in June 2019 and established itself as the dominant blockchain platform in South Korea. The Ethereum-compatible chain is now undergoing global business expansion from its base in Singapore, headed by the Klaytn Foundation.
The Klaytn blockchain adopts the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard and utilizes the hub and spoke model to scale as its ecosystem grows. It also focuses on decentralization — its Governance Council is expanded to 50 members and aims to incorporate leading decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs).
The native token of the network is KLAY and at the time of writing, the total value locked (TVL) on the network is $280M.

In this article, we’ll learn how to add the Klaytn network to MetaMask.

Setting Up Your MetaMask Wallet

You’ll need to set up your MetaMask wallet before interacting with the network. If you’ve used MetaMask before, then you know that it comes with some Ethereum mainnet networks and some of its testnet networks already added to the wallet. However, all the other networks can be easily added to the wallet.

If you’re a new user, download MetaMask on your browser (for instance, Chrome) or mobile first.

Once downloaded, you can “pin” MetaMask to your “Extensions” board at the top-right corner of your browser screen. To do that simply, click the “pin” button in the list of “Extensions”.

Adding a New Network on MetaMask

First, access the wallet and click on the “Expanded View.”

By clicking on the “Expanded View,” your MetaMask wallet will open in a new browser tab.

To add the new network to your wallet, simply head over to the round button at the top-right corner and click the “Settings” option from the dropdown menu.

You will see numerous options in the left pane of your screen. These options help you configure your MetaMask wallet to best suit your needs.

For the sake of this guide, click on the “Networks” tab. This will open up a new menu that you can see below. Click the “Add a network” button to add your network.

Adding Klaytn Mainnet to MetaMask

Any network that you want to add to your MetaMask wallet requires you to put in the network details such as the Chain ID, RPC URL and more.

You can easily find this information in the official documentation of the network. Look for a MetaMask guide or similar on the official documentation to find it. For Klaytn, these network details can be accessed here.

To add the Klaytn network to your wallet, simply copy and paste the following information.

Network Name: Klaytn Mainnet
New RPC URL: https://public-node-api.klaytnapi.com/v1/cypress
Chain ID: 8217
Currency Symbol: KLAY
Block Explorer URL: https://scope.klaytn.com

Once you add these details, you will be redirected to the network screen. You can then copy your MetaMask wallet address and start transferring funds. Remember to only transfer the funds that the network supports or you will lose them.
